The construction is a steel arch bridge with an estimated total weight of 40 tons, length 33.5 meters, and width 5.3 meters. Due to height challenges in tunnels, among others, parts of curved trusses will be transported as loose items and installed at construction site, and trial assembly in terms of dimensions and geometry will be executed in workshop before transportation to the port of Oslo.

– Birkheim is the second pedestrian bridge we have won during the last six months, and the project fits in well with NLI’s core business. At the same time, this contract is important for NLI Engineering regarding developing and maintaining our competence within the infrastructure segment. We thank Implenia for the trust, and look forward to a good cooperation, says Even Hatlo Andersen, Managing Director in NLI Engineering.

The project has started and the bridge is scheduled to arrive construction site primo May 2021. Installation works are estimated to approximately 4 weeks, and shall be completed by end of May 2021.

Torgrim Andersen is Project Manager.
